Our Awards 2019 Winners of the World Leisure Organisation for International Innovation The George Trophy was presented to Aspire on 18th November 2019 on the opening day of the 4th World Leisure Expo & Forum in Hangzhou, China. The trophy was named after George Torkilsden, a pioneer of leisure management theory and former WLO chairman. 2018 Finalist for the Inclusion and Disability Award in the UK Active Awards This award recognises any organisation with a programme, project or initiative that embodies the very best of an inclusive mindset and is able to demonstrate a disabled customer or colleague strategy that welcomes people from all backgrounds and circumstances. 2017 Winners in the Disability Category. This award recognises those charities that are innovative, exemplify best practice, and deliver sustainable benefit to communities and society in general. 2016 ukactive Matrix Flame Awards 2016 Outstanding Achievement This award recognises a partnership which promotes and delivers a healthy outcome based initiative that has a demonstrable impact for the NHS, local authority or direct to consumers. 2015 Finalist RIDI Disability Confident Award This award recognises organisations that can demonstrate their support of the government’s Disability Confident campaign and have worked to dispel myths and increase disability confidence in their own organisation. 2014 Winner of ukactive/CIMSPA Active Training Award (special populations) This award recognises the development of a learning programme; to enable exercise professionals to support a “special population”, one that truly understands the challenges facing the end consumer of activity and is a unique training programmes to raise participation. 2013 Big Society Award Prime Minister David Cameron said, "InstructAbility is encouraging more talented people with a disability to work in the fitness industry and creating the role models that will inspire others to get active." 2012 London Inspiremark Award Awarded by LOCOG in recognition of an exceptional and innovative project inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. InstructAbility graduates carried the flame into London Zoo during the Paralympic Torch Relay and worked in the Paralympic Village gym. 2012 Winner of ukactive Matrix Flame ‘Spark of Innovation’ Award Awarded to InstructAbility for, “achieving something exciting, new and innovative, which not only solves an initial problem but has made a profound impact on the industry”.
